THE DNC must lead the effort to rebuild, reorganize and re-invigorate the Democratic Party.
MICHELLE’s VISION FOR THE DNC
We stand at a crossroads. Everything we hold dear is at stake. But we have beaten the extremist MAGA agenda before, and we can do it again. But, the work must begin now — and we need a new playbook.
That's why I'm running to be one of your Vice Chairs on the DNC.
My vision for the DNC is anchored by a belief that to win we must focus our energies to rebuild, organize and communicate with Democrats everywhere.
Meet Michelle
Michelle is a union member, a farmer, a battleground state organizer, a labor and national environmental advocate, and a recent elected leader who flipped a three-term rural red seat to blue. She is the Chair and Founder of the Democratic National Committee’s first-ever Environment and Climate Crisis Council.
Born to a Latina teenage mom and a telephone lineman in a small Wisconsin town, she began working at age 12, delivering papers, caring for neighborhood children, working retail, clerical and food service jobs to supplement student loans and pay much of her way through college.
Michelle went on to serve in the Peace Corps in East Africa, then earned a Masters degree in education policy and administration from Harvard University.
Michelle’s lifetime commitment to public service and community centers advocacy for workers’ rights and labor. She is a proud member of UAW 2320, serves on the executive board of her regional labor federation, and is a former Michigan One Fair Wage spokesperson. As a county commissioner, she fought for increased wages for county workers.
Michelle serves on the National Advisory Boards of Climate Power, OnePointFive Climate Strategies, and Jane Fonda Climate PAC, working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. She founded and chairs her county’s first Environmental Council and spearheaded measures committing the county to ambitious decarbonization targets and a strong resilience plan.
A mother of two, she lives on her family’s 80-acre farm and rewilded prairie in Michigan.
